To all my Mothers (2018)

To all my mothers is a participatory performance concerning themes such as maternity, female genealogy and consumable body that are investigated on the pattern laid down various feminist and eco-feminist theories.

The whole project started to take form when I asked to myself questions such as:

“What is the value of motherhood in our patriarchal, androcentric and capitalist society?”

“How many mothers had fed me before I became vegan?”

This work is an attempt to broaden awareness on women identity and on female body exploitation, and to underline the similarities that exist between woman’s condition and female farmed animals’ condition in our patriarchal adandrocentric society.

To all my mothers wants to be a tribute to all the mothers: to all our female family members as well as to all the female farmed animals, to celebrate and to honour their lives, to be grateful to them, and to restore value to maternity in our patriarchal-androcentirc and capitalist society.

The women in the audience are engaged in the performance sharing their own matrilinear family tree.

To all my mothers was developed with the support by the European Cultural Foundation during my residency at the CAT-Baltic Contemporary Gallery in Ustka, in Poland.
